On the Coast

Beachside State Recreation Site US Hwy 101, 4 miles South of Waldport
Beachside — need we say more? This location on the central coast is ideal for dipping your toes in the sandy beach and flying kites. Every camp site is only seconds from the beach so if you’re looking for an idyllic beachside camp experience this is it.

Beverly Beach State Park US Hwy 101, 7 miles North of Newport
Just a hop skip and a jump away from the sand is the forest-sheltered camp grounds. There’s a children’s playground, grassy tree-lined picnic grounds and a visitor’s information center.

Cape Lookout State Park Off US Hwy 101, 12 miles Southwest of Tillamook
Located an hour and a half West of Portland, this camp site is so fun to get to. Enjoy scenic views, waterfalls and fishing holes as you head to Cape Lookout. There are over eight miles of hiking and walking trails for your little campers to explore.

Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park US Hwy 101, 14 miles North of Florence
This campground has been known to host elk! Talk about a true camping experience. Hear the pounding surf and the creek that runs through the camp as you fall asleep under the trees.

Devils Lake State Recreation Area US Hwy 101, Lincoln City
This is the only Oregon campground located in the midst of a city. Take a leisurely canoe or kayak on the lake. This site is known for hosting a bevy of summer activities such as boating, water skiing and swimming so if you’re looking for a more quiet and remote camping experience this might be your place.

Fort Stevens State Park Off US Hwy 101, 10 miles West of Astoria
During the summer at Fort Stevens you can tour a rare 90-year old gun battery that served as a World War II command center. The camp site hosts two swimming areas, a picnic area and a boat ramp.

Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park US Hwy 101, 3 miles South of Florence
This is the largest overnight camp ground in the state. With two miles of sand dunes between the park and the ocean, what’s not to love? Sand dune skateboarding or sliding, anyone?

Nehalem Bay State Park Off US Hwy 101, 3 miles South of Manzanita Junction
Nehalem Bay State Park truly has it all — from crabbing and fishing to a 1.75 mile bike trail to fine dining and local boutiques this area has a little something for everyone. The area is so serene too, you’ll love it.

South Beach State Park US Hwy101, 2 miles South of Newport
One of the most popular activities at South Beach State Park are the kayak tours. There are so many opportunities for adventure and exploration at this site you definitely won’t be bored.

Central Oregon

The Cove Palisades State Park Off US Hwy 97, 15 miles Southwest of Madras
Cove Palisades is located in the high desert region, meaning it can get sunny and warm in the summer months and chilly in the winter months. There are tons of activities for the whole family here including fishing, boating, and a variety of other water fun. Deluxe lakeshore log cabins are even available for those not totally wanting to rough-it.


LaPine State Park
Off US Hwy 97, 27 miles Southwest of Bend
This State Park’s name says it all: Pine. LaPine is home to Oregon’s largest Ponderosa pine. High mountain lakes, pine trees, and a cold river with trout abound here.

Prineville Reservoir State Park Off US Hwy 26, 14 miles Southeast of Prineville
Here fishing reigns king with fishing great all year round. The Reservoir hosts rainbow & cutthroat trout, small & largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and crayfish.

Tumalo State Park Off US Hwy 20, 5 mi. Northwest of Bend
Located right along Deschutes River, Tumalo State Park is an ideal destination to escape the rigors of daily city life. There are tons of scenic hiking and biking trails with campgrounds, yurts, or parking for your own RV available.

Willamette Valley

Champoeg State Heritage Area Off US Hwy 99W, 7 miles E of Newberg
Champoeg is the home to Oregon’s oldest operating store. There are also tons of forest, fields and wetlands to explore. Visit the visitor’s center, Newell House, Pioneer Mothers Log Cabin museums to get an educational take on this Heritage area.

Silver Falls State Park
Hwy 214, 26 miles East of Salem
Located in the lower elevation of the Cascade Mountains, Silver Falls State Park the famous Trail of Ten Falls/Canyon Trails. Descend the Canyon Trail and discover the forest floor that’s covered with lush foliage. Your kiddos will love everything this hotbed of hiking and wilderness has to offer.
